User Guide
Quick walkthrough for Smith Chart Workbench and RF metric interpretation.
1. Input workflow
- Use unified mode for two-column Excel paste:
R XorReGamma ImGamma - Blank line splits data into a new set
- Use separate mode when R and X columns are pasted independently
2. Data type switch
- Impedance mode: input is R, X in ohms and converted to Gamma with selected Z0
- Gamma mode: input is direct complex reflection coefficient
3. Metrics shown
- |Gamma|, phase: reflection magnitude/angle
- VSWR: standing-wave ratio from |Gamma|
- RL/ML: return loss and mismatch loss
- Pref/Pdel: reflected and delivered power percentages
- z, y, Z, Y, Rp, Xp, Q: normalized/absolute network insights
4. Chart control tips
- Use set color/name controls for compare-and-review sessions
- Toggle line/marker/value labels for clutter control
- Use focus point selector to inspect one point deeply
5. Export
- Copy chart PNG for reports and slides
- Download CSV for post-analysis in Excel/Python
6. RF calculator pages
- RF Calcs hub: quick entry point for dedicated RF calculators
- dB / dBm / W / Vrms: convert power and voltage units with selectable impedance
- Tx-line phase <-> length: convert delay/phase from cable length and velocity factor
- Reactance / Resonance / Q: evaluate Xl/Xc, f0, Q, and estimated bandwidth
- Tx-line power factor: estimate cable loss and delivered power from length and cable type
