What is Smith Chart?
The Smith Chart is a graphical tool widely used in RF and microwave engineering for impedance matching and transmission line analysis.
It visualizes complex values on a unit circle so you can quickly read reflection coefficient (Γ), VSWR, and return loss.
tosmithchart.com is a lightweight online tool: paste data (Excel OK), plot trajectories, and compare multiple sets.

Tip: for reflection coefficient input, use Re(Γ), Im(Γ) values directly. If you are pasting impedance (R, X in Ω), keep Z₀ consistent.
| # | Re(Γ) | Im(Γ) | |Γ| | VSWR | Return Loss |

Notes for Engineers
- Return Loss (dB) = −20·log10(|Γ|). Higher is better.
- When plotting trajectories, arrows show the last direction to help identify tuning flow.
- If you use this for publication, double-check the reference plane and calibration state (VNA).
